The leading animation & multimedia institute, Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematic (MAAC) presented 2nd edition of annual “Delhi CG Animation Awards (DCGAA) 2013” at the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Auditorium, New Delhi on 18th May 2013.


The DCGAA 2013 lived up to all clichés of a mega award ceremony and much more. A rock show with some head banging music fused with the ethnic lyrics of Vedas from ancient times set the mood for the rest of the evening. Anxiousness for the much awaited declaration of the 42 awards on line could be felt among the audiences. Whatever sanity was left within masses, were completely overruled when Karishma Kotak (Bollywood actress, IPL Host and Big Boss fame) made an entry to the Dice


As promised before the event by Mr. Deepak Choudhary, Director, MAAC South ext, the event not only sustained its vision to provide a meriting platform, rather also grew on to become a festival beyond comparison in the Indian Animated Film Making Sphere. When asked about this leap, Deepak says, “Our vision is to keep growing and also help our fellow film makers grow, thus propelling a strongly unified growth for the entire industry.”


The theme of second edition of Delhi CG Animation Awards was “COMICS”, thus their aim to revive the love for Comics in the capital of the country. DCGAA holds the distinction of being the first ever awards dedicated to the celebration of CG and Digital Movie making industry of the capital region.


The Event began at 1 pm in the afternoon with the screening of the 50 films made dedicatedly for this Awards Night by the students of MAAC Rajouri Garden, Pitampura, South Extension and Faridabad. At 3 pm, screening of professional cinema, shot on Canon Cinema cameras was initiated, which was followed up by a Panel Discussion on Emerging Technologies in Cinematography and Photography.

Also, a highlight of the event was a special product launch from Wacom. Mr. Deepak Choudhary launched the latest and most advanced product of Wacom; Cintiq 22HD Touch. Alongside all this, The event venue had exhibition of High End cameras from Canon, Tablet technologies from Wacom, Software knowledge desk by Autodesk, Comic stall by Diamond Comics. Canon had also organized two series of workshops on the subject of Lenses and its impact on the Image Quality.

At 6 pm the Awards Ceremony took the centre stage. Vikas Tewari, Senior Vice President, MAAC who has played an important part to help MAAC, New Delhi reach such a level to have created this platform, says, “What is amazing is the Awards Night could do justice to all segments related to Film Making. It is the beginning of something beautiful in the times to come.” He further added, “On this year, there were five Categories in event: Student Open Category, Professional Open Category, Student Closed Category, Specialization Category, and Photography. It leaves a motivational imprint on each student and professional involved.”

The Awards have now become an annual reminiscence of the vibrant nature of the Indian Film Making Cult. Deepak sums it up in his ever so cheerful spirit, “Delhi Awaits Your Film in Delhi CG Animation Awards 2014”.
